Plant Medicine : Nature Knows

Working with plants has been a huge part of my life and I am still amazed - daily - by the intricacy of their power to help and sustain us in every way.
My earliest memory is me sitting in my dads clinic (he and my brother are Chinese Medicine practitioners too ๐) tracing different plants to create my own herb bible. I was so mesmerised by the different shapes, textures, smells and qualities each different plant had and I wanted to have access to this knowledge ASAP ๐๐ผ๐.
Fast forward 32 years later and creating plant medicine is something I feel privileged to do everyday.
In Chinese Medicine teachings the function of a plant is understood by its colour, shape, scent and in particular its FLAVOUR!
Flavour determines the effect the herb will have on the body and what area of the body it mostly focuses on. Eg. Bitter herbs move down - bitter is the flavour of the stomach which ensures its energy goes down so it is happy. Unhappy stomach = acid reflux, hiccups, burping, nausea, vomiting, stuck sensation under the heart etc etc.
I work with herbal *combinations* to strengthen and harmonise the qualities of the plants - they work together to initiate a change in the body - protecting and restoring the system so happy functioning of the *whole body* can be clicked back into place.
It can be easy to forget how dependent we are on plants and how they affect most aspects of our lives in some way, directly or indirectly.
Next time when you're in your own garden or out in nature I invite you to take a closer look at the leaves and flowers around you. You may be able to notice some links to what they could have an effect on in the body.
