I enjoy focusing on digestive, female health (menstrual and hormonal) and emotional imbalances, although I am a general practitioner, so can work on any wellness concerns you may have.  As we are a whole package several symptoms may actually overlap and be treated simulataneously.

People are often surprised at the wide range of conditions acupuncture can treat.  From digestive issues to stress management to infertility, the Nourished Temple clinic may assist you with your acute or chronic health concerns as well as maintaining your health to help minimise recurrence of symptoms.  Remember that acupuncture actually serves as a preventative medicine, not just for when we're not feeling our best.  By regular monthly or 6 weekly *tune-ups*, just like we do for our cars, our body, mind and soul functions best when well maintained and in balance.

I support my clients to reclaim, and sustain their health, by resolving imbalances which may be hindering their well-being and by assisting to restore normal body functions.   As a second generation acupuncturist, with both my brother and father practitioners, I understand how beneficial natural medicine can be, for both the treatment of disease as well as it's prevention.  I place importance on treating the 'whole' individual not just a muscle or particular region, as all aspects of our body are intricately connected.  For example, what affects the mind affects the body and vice versa.  The amazing success and systematic approach of acupuncture and the traditional knowledge of natural plant based medicine has fascinated me since my younger years, and its incredible to witness its relevance now more than ever in our fast paced modern world.

As a Dr of Chinese Medicine my treatment approach aims at relieving your symptoms while addressing the underlying cause and root of your health concern to best address and manage your health issues.  In conjunction with acupuncture and herbal medicine I give dietary and lifestyle advice to assist in promoting functional healing of your body and suggestions that I believe will help improve your everyday life.

After six years of full time training and clinical experience, I was awarded a Bachaelor of Health Science in Chinese Medicine and a Diploma of Tui Na (Chinese Medicine remedial massage) from SSNT (Southern School of Natural Therapies).  I had the privilege of working with a well renowned Dr of Chinese Medicine in Melbourne for almost three years as his raw herbal dispenser and clinic assistant while running my own private practice in South Yarra, before moving back to Queensland to open the Nourished Temple clinic (originally named Body & Soul Sunshine Coast).

My studies involved a high level of up to date scientific based training in anatomy, physiology and pathology.  I continue my professional education in acupuncture by studying short courses nation wide, while currently furthering my herbal knowledge with a diploma in canonical Chinese herbal medicine through ICEAM (institute of classics in east asian medicine).  Overseas travel involved completing a 200 hour yoga teacher training, allowing me to share my other passion and the incredible benefits yoga can bring to everyone.

At the Nourished Temple clinic, in beautiful Peregian Beach, I provide individually tailored acupuncture treatments, raw and hand-made powdered Chinese herbal medicine prescriptions, fire cupping, gua sha, restorative massage, reiki and private and group yoga classes.  I am registered with AHPRA and ATMS and am covered by most major health funds, so you can receive rebates for your treatments.  I am proud and grateful to be able to share my professional and personal knowledge of these time-tested health-care systems to assist you on your path to wellness in a safe, effective and natural way.  I look forward to meeting you soon.

My treatment approach is gentle, making you feel heard about your health concerns, and formulating a treatment plan to suit you and your individual presentation.    I combine modalities to get quick results, so you can get back to enjoying your life sooner.  A combination of acupuncture, diet and lifestyle advice and in most cases Chinese herbal medicine is used to ensure all aspects of your health concern or health maintenance program are addressed.

The session will start by talking about what may be concerning you.  All information is strictly confidential.   I feel your pulse on both hands, (a Chinese medicine theory based on more than just  the heart rate),  look at your tongue and check any hindered range of movement if you have a musculo-skeletal issue.

In most cases no clothing needs to be removed as the treatment approach often focuses on

distal needling on the hands or forearms and calves or feet.   This is the fascinating approach of chinese medicine which can be explained by the analogy of 'a light is usually turned on or off at the wall not the globe'.   All aspects of the body are connected and acupuncture harnesses this connection to balance the body, not always at the site of pain or near the problem area.

After explaining the treatment plan, very fine, single use sterile needles are inserted into    specific areas.  This process is usually comfortable and painless, as acupuncture needles are much much finer and smaller than medical grade needles, with many people falling asleep or resting deeply.   Depending on your treatment the number of needles may vary, however a less is more approach is taken as each acupuncture point used is a messenger between the brain and body.  Once the needles are in I leave the room so you can rest for between 20-30 minutes, allowing you to fully benefit from the relaxing and therapeutic effects of acupuncture.   A heat lamp, cupping or gua sha may be combined with your acupuncture treatment, which will be discussed.

After removing the needles any questions you may have can be answered.  We will talk about the treatment plan and approach that best suits you.  Dietary and lifestyle suggestions may be given, and a Chinese herbal formula or supplements may be prescribed with your consent, to assist in improving your treatment results and minimising recurrence of your condition.   Often more than one treatment is needed to ensure your symptoms and condition are treated appropriately and you stay symptom free.   Everyone is different and as this style of treatment is designed for you specifically there is no set number of sessions for a condition, although I can speculate taking into account similar cases.  We will discuss your options,  allowing you to make the best choice, for you.
